PEARL DIVE

CALDWELL SNYDER, SAN FRANCISCO

SHOWING AUGUST 2014

I began this body of work when the Monarch butterflies passed through the Monterey Bay Coast, taking no less than four generations to complete their migration from the forests of Mexico across the United States to Canada. An alarming decline in numbers were reported again this year.

It is my custom to choose a word every year that sets the stage for my life and work. This year the word was given to me. Pearl was born into our family—my beautiful grandniece! Her name alone inspired me, and for the next six months I dove into my work, producing more that a dozen paintings, including Pearl Heart, Pearl Blossom, Pearl Peril, and True True. Inspired from the love that surrounds me, along with an unwavering concern for Mother Earth and all of its inhabitants, I give you PEARL DIVE.
