Bryant Street Gallery is pleased to present:   Road Trip by artist MARTI SOMERS
Road Trip is Marti Somers' newest body of work where whimsical narratives mingle and converse with abstract fields of texture and shape.  The exhibition is a two-month solo show opening July 1st with the artist’s reception on July 8th from 6-8 pm.

Somers’ paintings are a study of surface and color interspersed with illustrative elements. Peppered with hues of bright orange, blue, and green, the paintings have the vivid quality of a fertile landscape. The pieces are resplendent with repeating images of cranes, butterflies, and tumbleweeds, to name a few, as you venture through this cohesive collection. The exhibition was painted in memory of her late father and inspired by the journey of his long and fruitful life. His memory and light prods Somers forward through the road trip of herlife.
Somers, a native to the Palo Alto area, has been an artist for over 15 years, exhibiting in galleries all over the United States. Somers began her career at the Bryant Street Gallery in 2001. This will be the first solo show with the gallery in almost 10 years. Somers says, "It feels like coming home again, and that feels really good." Before becoming a painter, Somers went to the University of Hawaii, and worked as a graphic designer for 25 years in Palo Alto until she realized that painting brought true meaning to her life. “Painting is my way of recording the daily life and beauty that surrounds and deeply touches me,” Somers says in her memoir, Reason 2 Believe.
Road Trip will be on exhibit from July 1st to August 31st, 2016 at Bryant Street Gallery, 532 Bryant Street, Palo Alto, CA. The artist will he present at the opening reception, Friday July 8th at 6 pm. Further details and show images can be found on the gallery website at
